SEO Services Cold Calls SEO Consultant
SEO Services called an SEO Consultant Yep, you read correctly. It is as funny as it sounds. There are a lot of SEO services that will cold call for customers. They can't get any clients from being online so they have to cold call people. "Cold Calling" is a term that means a company calls people unexpectedly and will try to get them to sign on with their SEO Services.
How many times have we been called? Well quite a few. We have even been snail mailed, and not to count the numerous emails, but cold calling like a telemarketer is where it really draws the line.
Now, the funny thing is that in this case they are the ones who got the unexpected set back. We really dislike telemarketing. It is annoying, especially when we are called at mid night. Yep, you see I live overseas and my number is through the computer so it isn't the same hours as in the states. Really people who work in internet marketing should stick to the internet and not go with telemarketing.
Tonight wasn't the first time I have been called. I have been called last week and asked them not to call. So now they made me upset enough to write about them. I have been called a few months ago by another company who called too much and they finally got the message to not try again.
Unknowing People Get Suckered Into Bad SEO Services
You know some people really don't know much about SEO and how to gain rankings. Some people will take any type of traffic, but any traffic isn't really good. You want someone looking for the particular item that your site has to offer not just going to your site to look.
Some Traffic Sending sites and SEO Services count every little bit of traffic you get. You know those you pay for a 1000 hits. Some of these places even use old domains and redirect them to your site for hits. Yes, not a very good thing for your site.
So many people will get suckered into paying some of these bad SEO scam artist that send you traffic fully knowing most of this traffic won't do you any good.
When Telemarketing Style Cold Calls From Traffic Source SEOs Become Annoying
Actually, they are always annoying. Most of the time the person that is calling you doesn't even know SEO and they are just calling and reading from a notebook or a script it seems like.
It is more annoying trying to call you when you just change something on your domain and there is a WhoIs change that they get notified from their software pickup, company, or however they get the information. This is why people are moving to make their registration private. So, even if there isn't anything on the domain making it a site they are ready to take you to the top, really kind of comical when you think of it.
How do Search Engine Optimization Companies Get Phone Numbers and Addresses
Companies can get information from newly registered sites or sites that have had changes made to then in the "Who Is" registration records. This is easy as there are even sites that will list newly registered and newly expired web sites. There are companies that have software that crawls through the internet and gains the information and then these companies sell it. There are even companies who pay people money to get them information. Read about Jigsaw a bad company.
Is Cold Calling an Effective Way to Gain SEO Clients?
Actually there are some people that can be talked into purchasing anything. Is it effective yes, is it ethical? No I don't think so. Why, you ask? Well for one these people called me when there is nothing on the site at all. How can they even feel they can help when the site isn't up yet? They have no idea of the plans of what is going up or if I plan on using it. Maybe I had no plans, maybe I already hired someone and maybe if I wanted to have my site professionally done I would find someone.
I asked a question in a forum I frequent about if they have been solicited by this company. There are others, which didn't surprise me. What did surprise me is to find out that they lasted on the phone to hear the spiel.
The other company that had called before the one mentioned earlier didn't even know I had a website, as I asked them why they were calling. The guy said to help you with my website. I asked him how he knew I had one, and then he asked "do you have one?" I laughed and asked "which one?" So he then said "so you do have one." I asked him "You mean you call people out of the blue and you don't even know if they have a website?" "Yes", he said. Now, if you know what kind of a person I am I like to be a little funny which is why I asked which one. This was just too good to let it slide as it was the 2nd time this company called also. So I went to say "so what can you do for my websites?" He said "to help with marketing" I asked "what kind of marketing." He wasn't to straight forward as he knew I wasn't going to be talked to anything. I then told him "well there really isn't anything you can do for me as I do the marketing myself and SEO."
So, really is this type of Internet Marketing worth it? Not to me, but to them I suppose. I am glad they have more time on their hands than we do!
